Announcing Files v4.0.42

Thumbnail

Today we are releasing Files Preview v4.0.42 for users of the preview version.

An update icon should be displayed in the top right corner of the app for existing users, while new users can get started from our download page. Additionally, you can help support the project by purchasing Files on the Microsoft Store or by sponsoring us on GitHub. Your support is greatly appreciated but entirely optional.

What’s New in Files v4.0.42

You can now search for Settings directly from the Omnibar.

Updated single click behavior

The single click setting now offers additional options: always, never, only for touch, and only for mouse. This allows users to enable single click for touch input while still using double click for mouse input.

Default terminal

When using the Open in Terminal action, Files now respects the default terminal configured in Windows Settings.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where thumbnails didn’t refresh when a file was updated.
  • Fixed an issue where double clicking to rename had a delay.

Conclusion

As always, we appreciate your feedback and suggestions on how to improve Files. You can reach us on Discord and on GitHub.

Thank you for using Files! 😊
