Sidebar

The sidebar gives you quick access to the locations you use most. It can be shown or hidden with the Toggle Sidebar action from the Command Palette, and resized by dragging its edge.

Sections

The sidebar is organized into sections:

  • Home: Opens the Home page with your widgets.
  • Pinned: The folders you have pinned, such as Desktop, Downloads, and Documents.
  • Libraries: Your Windows libraries.
  • Drives: The drives connected to your device.
  • Cloud Drives: Folders from cloud providers detected on your device.
  • Network: Network locations and mapped network drives.
  • WSL: The Linux distributions installed through the Windows Subsystem for Linux.
  • Tags: Your file tags.

To hide a section you don’t use, right-click its header and select the option to hide it.

Pinning folders

Drag a folder onto the Pinned section to pin it, or right-click the folder and select Pin to sidebar. To remove one, right-click the pinned folder and select Unpin from sidebar. Both actions are also available in the Command Palette.

Expanding folders

Folders in the sidebar can be expanded with the chevron next to them, letting you browse subfolders without leaving the current location.

Moving items to a sidebar location

You can drag files and folders onto a location in the sidebar to move or copy them there. While dragging, the location you are hovering over is outlined in your accent color, so you can see where the items will be dropped before you release them.
